Mammoet awarded contract to help renovate Montreal’s Olympic stadium

Mammoet has secured a contract to assist Groupe Construction Pomerleau-Canam (GCPC) in renovating the roof of Montreal’s Olympic stadium.

GCPC, a consortium of Pomerleau and Canam Group, will replace the existing roof with a new fixed structure featuring transparent glass to allow natural light. Mammoet will provide mobile cranes for the demolition and use its Mega Jack 5200 system to lift and install the new roof. The project will be managed by Mammoet’s Canada East subsidiary, employing nearly 500 experts. The new roof will be built inside the stadium and lifted 50 meters into place using six Mega Jack towers and strand jacks for stabilization. Special adjustment devices will ensure precise positioning. The roof will remain elevated for two months for final installation work.

Project Manager Justin Hope said:
“We are thrilled that Mammoet can play a key role in the renovation of this iconic stadium. We lift heavy objects all the time, but making sure that our solution aligns with how the roof will be finally connected adds a unique dimension. This is why we came up with a custom engineering solution to perform the job”.
