Kiwa CMT is looking for a dynamic and experienced part-time Health and Safety Adviser to join our team in Derby, working 24 hours a week. In this key role, you will coordinate and enhance our Health & Safety and Environmental policies, ensuring compliance with legislation while promoting a positive safety culture across all activities.

Overview:

  • Management of the existing H&S systems to ensure compliance with Kiwa UK’s Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS)
  • Manage and maintain the Kiwa OHSMS, implementing necessary amendments as advised by Kiwa UK and Kiwa Global
  • Ensure that the business is using the OHSMA and Corporate documentation and reporting systems
  • In collaboration with departmental managers, ensure high visibility and awareness of H&S requirements throughout the company – including regular review of audits and vehicle/equipment checks
  • Help to ensure that working practices are safe and equipment maintained in good order
  • Instigate necessary H&S training and maintain corresponding training matrix; staff training records; and renewal schedule
  • Delivering CMT and Safe Together safety inductions for new employees and site visitors
  • Ensuring that all sub-contractors are suitable competent for any planned works on behalf of CMT,
  • Ensure RAMS and COSHH assessments are reviewed at regular intervals and maintain corresponding records
  • Devise action plans in response to inspection findings, implement necessary actions and check efficacy
  • Ensure availability of required standard of PPE issued to staff, maintain issue records
  • Manage first aid stock and fire safety requirements, including Fire Risk Assessment
  • Investigate and report on incidents and accidents including statutory reports to the HSE under RIDDOR and ensure implementation of identified control measures
  • Review and analyse accident/incident records to identify patterns or trends, document findings and provide input regarding necessary action
  • Provide H&S input to monthly management reports
  • Maintain suitable liaison and communication with and the Kiwa UK Safety Champion function and Kiwa CMT management, scheduling meetings as required
  • Assist with completion of H&S aspect of tender PQQs
  • Assist with maintenance of HERS & HEA portfolios
  • Maintain accreditations (e.g. CHAS and Acclaim)

Responsabilities:

  • NEBOSH qualification is essential
  • Health, Safety & Environmental experience within the construction industry
  • Working knowledge of current H&S legislation
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations is desirable
  • Practical experience of construction related site based safety requirements
  • Experience with respect to compilation of RAMS/SWS and COSHH assessments and maintenance of their registers
  • Ability to work and reach targets set independently (self starting)
  • The ability to work cohesively with all stakeholders for a mutual outcome
  • Relevant experience of balancing the needs of Customers, Shareholders and Employees
  • Willingness to travel for site audits and inspections
  • Dynamism, aptitude for problem solving and teamwork, persistence, accuracy, practicality, reliability, flexibility, and results oriented
  • Exceptional communication skills and interpersonal relations at all levels

Qualifications:

  • £26,000 per annum Pro Rata (£41,979 Full-Time Equivalent)
